Attorney Mike Smith is the President of Home School Legal Defense Association, an organization he helped found in 1983 to protect the rights of parents to teach their children at home.  HSLDA now represents over 80,000 member families.  Mike became involved in defending homeschoolers after he and his wife, Elizabeth, decided to home educate their children.  His desire is to communicate his conviction that God has raised up the homeschooling movement for a special purpose in history.  www.hslda.org

PAULETTE APPLEGATE:  Homeschool Mom of four graduates, Christian PSP administrator, and former curriculum supply store owner, Paulette Applegate has done curriculum counseling for years and is uniquely qualified to provide information and encouragement to those who desire to homeschool through High School.  She and her husband Jim believe that each family should be able to educate their children in the way that God leads to best meet the needs of their individual family.

JEANNE BOULET: Jeanne Boulet is a Career Counselor for the Alliance Worknet in Modesto.  She has over 10 years experience assisting job seekers and career changers gain the tools and techniques they need to conduct a successful job search. She develops curriculum and presents the Job Prep Workshops, training how to complete online applications, write professional resumes, and interview effectively.  For the past 3 years she has proctored WorkKeys, a national assessment that measures skill levels for hundreds of occupations, and administered KeyTrain, an online curriculum used to raise WorkKeys scores. She is also a veteran home school mom of 2 rowdy boys who are established in successful careers. An accomplishment only God could have performed.

CARLITA BOYLES: Carlita Boyles is a Christian wife and mother, and the author of the new homeschool math curriculum, Math on the Level. Together with her husband, John, who is the editor and illustrator, she has developed a program that gives parents the tools to teach their children at each child’s level of maturation using real-life family-centered activities instead of textbooks. Carlita has a passion for helping parents confidently teach children in the way that the children learn best.

REB BRADLEY:  Reb Bradley, father of 6, is a pastor who ministers to the Body of Christ at large. Reb has been a radio counselor and talkshow host, and as a writer and national conference speaker he works diligently to strengthen the modern Christian family. He conducts seminars and teaches extensively on issues related to marriage, fatherhood, child training, and single Christian living.Reb is most noted for his book Child Training Tips: What I Wish I Knew When My Children Were Young. Reb and his wife, Beverly, have taught all six of their children at home, with three now grown and three still at home.

BEVERLY BRADLEY:  Reb's wife and mother of 6, Bev devotes herself to raising her children, and allows time to disciple wives and mothers according to Titus 2:4-5. She is a powerful communicator, and a popular keynote speaker at women's gatherings. Committed to teaching the Word of God without compromise, she speaks with sensitivity, humor, and biblical wisdom in addressing issues related to motherhood, marriage, and home schooling. Her frank, transparent style leaves her listeners challenged, yet hopeful in their walks with Christ. Many, in fact, have described Bev's ministry as "absolutely life-changing."

REV. DAVID R. BROWN: David R. Brown is the pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church in Castro Valley, CA.  He was for eleven years superintendent of Christian Heritage Academy in Fremont.  His background in teaching Shakespeare is extensive.  He has taught at Chabot College, and American Heritage High School, both in Hayward.  For 40 years, he has lectured on Shakespeare's plays at Ashland, Oregon.  He directed three of his plays when he was at American Heritage.  He gives lectures about the life and work of Shakespeare upon request.

TOM CLARK:
Thomas Clark
is a life-long teacher of Mathematics and Science with more than 30 years of classroom and tutoring experience at all levels, from elementary through adult.  As a result of all of his experience, he is convinced that everyone has the ability to understand mathematics.  Consequently, during the last thirteen years, he has focused on the development of multimedia programs that challenge traditional methods of instruction, and which help with both individualized and group learning.

JODY HORNER: Jody Hornor is the researcher and primary compiler of material for The Golden History Book series. Drawing on her 35 years experience in marketing, she's created a series of award-winning history books that are both fun and very educational. With her new business focus centered around history, she developed the Folsom History Museum's annual History Bee, and is working on a Trivia-like history game that will be available to the public. Prior to an auto accident that forced a change in her business direction, Jody the authored 5 books on marketing including the best seller, Power Marketing for Small Business.

KIM KAUTZER: Kim Kautzer, veteran homeschooler and author, loves to help parents feel more confident about teaching writing. She believes that when you combine blank paper, reluctant child, and insecure parent, you create a recipe that’s doomed to fail. With a heart to inspire and equip apprehensive parents, Kim encourages homeschoolers that teaching writing is much more objective than you think, and that with the right tools at your fingertips you can lead and motivate your struggling writers. WriteShop, her unique and successful writing program, has been honored as one of Cathy Duffy’s 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum. Kim and her husband Jim began homeschooling in 1988. All three of their children are homeschool graduates. The Kautzers enjoy a passel of grandkids and their sometimes-empty nest in Southern California.

DR. REBECCA KELLER:  In 2001, Rebecca W. Keller, Ph.D., began formalizing her teaching materials to equip non-science teachers (usually other home schooling moms) so they would feel comfortable teaching science disciplines to their children. She didn’t set out to be an author. A former research assistant professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Dr. Keller worked in the molecular biology, chemistry and neuroscience fields. As she home schooled her three children, this scientific background coupled with her love of the dramatic, and she prepared interesting experiments or “labs” for her children and those of some neighbors. This success in engaging kids in science prompted her to launch the Real Science-4-Kids program.

MARK OSTERINK: Mark Osterink has a degree in Speech Communication from California Polytechnic University.  He is a passionate advocate for children’s art and has been working in the area of visual art for over 16 years.  Mark was instrumental in defining and developing the “Atelier” homeschool art product line, which is used by many of thousands of homeschoolers throughout the United States.

CINDY QUILICI: Cindy Quilici is the Northern CA State Manager for Classical Conversations. Because of her personal experience, she is passionate about sharing the vision of equipping her children with a Biblically-based worldview and the classical “tools of learning” in order to impact the world for God’s glory.

DIEGO RODRIGUEZ: Diego Rodriguez is a Pastor with a passion for teaching.  As the founder and president of the 4th Day Alliance, Diego is actively involved in sharing the glory of the heavens with both believers and non-believers.  He can be seen presenting many different astronomy programs and seminars at Christian camps, public star parties, homeschool conventions, and special events.

KEVIN SHAW: Kevin Shaw and his wife of 16 years, Wendy, began homeschooling when their first child was born, 15 years ago. As a coach and public school teacher for over 25 years, Kevin brings an insightful view to homeschooling and has enjoyed presenting at conferences throughout the area. Kevin also gives seminars on Business to his local community.  Kevin & Wendy have 8 children now and together they make up a team of producers in their on-line/offline family businesses. Some of the endeavors the Shaw’s are currently involved in include DailyBibleLessons.com, ItalicBuilders.com, ShawFamilyMedia.com, MyMorningSickness.com, and their children have created their own products as well. Kevin is excited about encouraging others to follow the Biblical mandate of working and creating to glorify God.

SHIRLEY SOLIS: Shirley Solis and her husband, Gus, have been married since 1993.  They have five children and are based in Homestead, Florida.  Each year, they travel the country for six months, catering to the needs of homeschooling families as they share their hearts on life and educational issues.  Shirley, a dynamic and encouraging speaker, has touched the hearts of many with her delightful, upbeat personality and her convicting message, she shares her life experiences while inspiring and encouraging the Body of Christ to fulfill their God-given purpose.

BRET  WELSHYMER: Bret Welshymer served as a pastor for 19 years and has walked along side of hundreds of families helping them to become all that God wants them to be.  Bret and his wife of 29 years have two adult daughters and a teenage son and daughter.  Their children have attended Christian schools, public schools, and most recently have schooled at home.  With a MA in marriage-family counseling, years of ministry in the church, and parenting children through the teen years, Bret brings a unique perspective to the value of homeschooling in a culture that is moving away from a Biblical worldview at a rapidly increasing pace.
