Announcement

Dear VHE Families, and all of our wonderful, Vendors, Speakers and Volunteers,

We would like to take a moment to first say we are praying you have all stayed safe during this turbulent year. We know it has been hard for many. The questions in the back of your mind, will there be a convention? Will there be a swap meet? And what will it look like if there is one?

After much prayer and consideration and truthfully sadness, we the staff have come to the conclusion the time has come for VHE to end. Many of you are probably wondering WHY? Without going into detail there have been several staff changes over this last year, there has been a shift in Homeschoolers needs, and even how our vendors are allowed to sell here in CA. All of which have made it difficult to continue. We had a wonderful run over the last 27 years. You have showed up, you have volunteered and you have participated anyway you could.

We can not say thank you enough to the families that have participated, some as their vacation, every year in our local homeschool convention. Valley home Educators begun 27 years ago with just a few vendors, and eventually we grew and filled up the whole area at the convention center and filled many hours of speakers and workshops. Many of our kids grew up there and many can tell you their favorite vendors, from all the beautiful books at lamplighters, to the 3 ft wooden swords. We all have our favorite vendors and speakers. The whole point has been to learn and teach our children. If you have ever been a speaker over the last 27 years coming to sharing your knowledge, wisdom, experiences and support, thank you. We learned so much from you, and took that knowledge back to teach the next generation. And where would we have been without the Vendors. You showed up, and some of you traveled from very far away. You came when homeschooling was trying to find its identity. You actually helped many moms define what homeschooling would look like. You are not just speakers and sellers, you became like family. Thank you for doing the work, so that, many of us did not have to reinvent the wheel. You volunteers, oh how this would have never gotten where it did without volunteers. Board members over the years, to staff, to those who greeted the attendees; your smiles, your dedication and your sacrifice have been the backbone of VHE. Thank you, to all of you from the Bottom of our hearts.

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and in our case it is true. However, that does not mean we cannot get together, support one another and you can also still buy from all of the vendors we have used over the years. We also encourage all you veteran families, who have been homeschooling for a while, to be available to help and support the new homeschooling families coming up the pike. Maybe start local group, and wherever you can, get together to help and support each other. Who knows maybe another group will spring up with a vision of today’s Homeschoolers with their needs in mind! May God richly bless you all.

We will miss you greatly
